Fat Pheasant Shepherd Huts | Countryside getaway

Nestled in North Oxfordshire on a farm surrounded by nothing but wildlife and rolling hills, you’ll find Fat Pheasant Shepherd Huts. The perfect spot for a reset.

Right outside the hut you’ll find your own private wood-fired hot tub, a gas BBQ, a fire-pit and a large seating area. If the weather takes a turn and things get a little chilly, you can head inside the cabin and light up the little wood burner.

The hut is fully kitted out and beautifully decorated. You can order yourself locally sourced food hampers in advance. We got some fresh bread, eggs, sausages and juices for breakfast, all of which were delicious.

One of the things I loved about this place is how great it is for kids. You can organise for additional single beds to be set up next to the hut in a big bell tent. We had a peep inside and they were really lovely. You can also have a small mattress set up in the cabin for the smaller kiddos.

Our toddler had so much fun in the “swimming pool” (hot tub) and spent hours playing and running around in the open fields. There’s plenty of walking spots around the farm where you might even spot some of the farm animals, including some highland cows.

We spent our evenings sat around the fire-pit toasting marshies and listening to the wildlife. It’s a bit of a kids paradise and always great having a couple of days with no WIFI and tv.

On our second day there we popped over to Bourton on the water in the Cotswolds, which was a short drive from the farm, for ice-creams and a peruse around the quaint cobbled streets.

A lovely spot to switch off and get away from lifes busyness, we’ll definitely be returning.
