A couple of Saturdays ago marked six months of marriage for Marcel and I. We were shooting a wedding at De Uijlenes, a rustic farm venue in the Overberg, and got to spend the night there. There were sheep roaming freely in the never-ending fields and a sheep dog who followed us everywhere. On Sunday morning we woke up to roosters crowing, had a lovely farm breakfast and went to greet the donkeys and ostrich. We decided to make the most of being in such a beautiful place so we went on a little photo spree around the area. We stopped along the road whenever we saw a good photo opportunity, which included me climbing onto Marcel's shoulders to photograph these precious cows and their melons. Yes, they had melons.
After we took some snaps we drove through to Hermanus for coffee and a walk around the Fisherman's village craft market. We then enjoyed our scenic road trip home, took in all the beauty that is the Western Cape, where road trip snacks were plentiful and good ol' Norah Jones was singing her heart out in the background (much to Marcel's dismay.)
It has been an incredible seven months of marriage and this weekend away is definitely one I will always remember.
