Nothing exudes relaxation like a wood-fired hot tub in the middle of the mountains. I had the privilege of getting to stay at Copia luxury eco cabins in Botrivier. I always get excited when finding amazing local getaway spots, and Copia is definitely a new favourite.
Owner, Lucas Steyn, has created a luxury cabin from a container, purely solar run so electricity is limited. Not that there is any need for electricity in a place like Copia and it's so great to support businesses who are doing their bit to help the environment.
It's situated on an animal farm so you'll spot some animals on your drive up to the cabin. We were welcomed with chocolates on our bed and an already heated hot tub. The cabin is fully equipped with everything you need and they even supply you with fresh eggs, fresh minted drinking water and a jar of the most delicious rusks. Besides the incredible hot tub, they have an indoor fireplace, a large shower equipped with body wash, shampoo & conditioner as well as an outdoor braai and a table on the patio that faces the beautiful views. There are neat little gardens surrounding the cabin and they have a small herb garden where you can help yourself to a variety of herbs for cooking or for your g&t's - I loved this homey touch.
We woke up to the sound of the birds singing and an occasional bellow from the farm cows. Copia is currently in the process of building another unit, and if all goes well there are plans for a total of five cabins scattered around the farm. None of them would be in view of each other of course, to ensure ultimate privacy.
Every minor design detail from the decor items to the crockery and cutlery has been beautifully curated to ensure that the cabin truly does ooze luxury. Copia exceeded our expectations big time and as you can imagine, it gets booked up quickly so make sure you book in advance.
Marcel and I had the most incredible stay and we can't wait to return and try out one of the new cabins!
